Digital Design Pioneer Devesh Mistry, Co-Founder of RBBi Dubai, Mourned as ‘Superman’

The digital design and technology community in Dubai and beyond is mourning the loss of a visionary leader. Devesh Mistry, the Indian expatriate co-founder of the acclaimed digital agency Red 0Blue Blur Ideas (RBBi), has passed away. Known affectionately as “Superman” among his peers for his boundless energy and problem-solving prowess, Mistry's death was announced by his company, which described the loss as “deeply painful.”

A Trailblazer in UX/UI and Digital Innovation

Beginning his career as a coder in the late 1990s, Devesh, often called “Dev,” quickly recognized the transformative power of design. In 2011, he co-founded RBBi, which became one of the Middle East's first agencies to specialize in user experience (UX), user interface (UI), and digital performance marketing.

Under his leadership, RBBi shaped the digital landscape for major global brands including Microsoft, IBM, and L'Oréal. His unique ability to merge technical expertise with creative design established a philosophy of human-centered digital solutions that earned the agency regional acclaim and set a new standard in the industry.

A Dedicated Mentor and Educator

Beyond his commercial success, Mistry was deeply committed to nurturing future talent. He served as a lecturer and curriculum developer at the University of Dubai, teaching digital strategy and inspiring the next generation of designers. His academic contributions also included a previous role at the University of Technology Sydney.

With a background in physics and as a Microsoft-certified professional, Mistry bridged the gap between science and art. Colleagues remember him as a multifaceted individual—a passionate mentor, an avid reader of design and psychology, and a casual guitarist—whose empathy and integrity made him a rare and inspirational figure in the fast-paced tech world.

A Legacy of Leadership and Humanity

The announcement from RBBi highlighted a loss that transcends business—the loss of a friend, leader, and guiding light. The agency has asked the wider community to join in offering condolences, emphasizing the need to honor his influence on their culture and values.

While the cause of his death has not been disclosed, an outpouring of tributes on social media reflects the profound impact he had. Many have expressed gratitude for his contributions, noting his unique combination of technical skill, creative vision, and genuine humanity.
