Dubai Student, 7, Sets World Record as Youngest to Conquer Everest Base Camp and Thorong La Pass
In an extraordinary feat of youthful endurance, seven-year-old Ivan Krasiukov, a student at Bloom World Academy in Dubai, has officially set a new world record. He has become the youngest person to complete both the iconic trek to Everest Base Camp and cross Nepal's formidable Thorong La Pass on the Annapurna Circuit. This dual achievement, accomplished before his seventh birthday, has been officially certified by Official World Record Europe.
A Record-Setting Himalayan Double
Ivan’s remarkable adventure began in April 2024 when, at just six years old, he embarked on the 130-kilometer journey to Everest Base Camp. Over 12 days, he navigated the challenging trail with his parents, Alla and Dmitrii Krasiukov, a Nepalese guide, and porters.
His appetite for adventure was far from satisfied. Demonstrating incredible determination, Ivan returned to Nepal in April 2025 to tackle the Annapurna Circuit's Thorong La Pass. Standing at a breathtaking 5,416 meters (17,769 feet), it is one of the highest walkable passes in the world. By successfully crossing it, he secured his place in the record books as the youngest person to complete both these demanding Himalayan trails within a single year.
The Journey: Resilience in the Face of Challenges
Ivan’s achievements were not without their trials. His father, Dmitrii, shared a telling moment from the Everest trek: “When we reached Everest Base Camp after 12 days, Ivan was upset and said we should have chosen a longer trek. That’s when I realised it had all been worth it.”
The journeys tested his physical limits. During the Everest Base Camp trek, the family endured sandstorms, difficult ascents and descents, and frigid winds so cold they froze Ivan’s hands at Dingboche (around 4,000 meters elevation). He was equipped with yak-wool mittens to continue safely, showcasing his resilience in harsh conditions.
The Foundation of a Young Adventurer
This record-breaking success was built on a foundation of an active lifestyle and rigorous training. According to his school, Ivan regularly practices athletics, swimming, parkour, and acrobatics. This diverse training built the endurance and mental fortitude necessary for high-altitude trekking.
His father emphasized that Ivan’s innate stamina and adventurous spirit made even the most difficult days manageable. The combination of family support, expert local guidance, and his own unwavering determination was the recipe for this historic accomplishment.
Recognition and Inspiration
John Bell, the Founding Principal of Bloom World Academy, expressed immense pride in his student. “We couldn’t be prouder to see a Bloom student making history on a global stage,” Bell said, describing the feat as a vivid reflection of Ivan’s determination and resilience.
Ivan’s story serves as a powerful inspiration for young adventurers and parents alike. It demonstrates that with proper preparation, a supportive environment, and the right mindset, even the most daunting goals are achievable. It also highlights the value of encouraging resilience and an active lifestyle from a young age.

What’s Next for the Young Explorer?
If his past is any indication, Ivan’s journey is far from over. His disappointment that the Everest Base Camp trek wasn't longer signals a ambitious spirit eager for the next challenge. While the family has yet to publicize details, they have confirmed that future treks are already in the planning stages.
Ivan Krasiukov’s story is more than a world record; it is a testament to the power of perseverance, family support, and a pure love for exploration. He has not only walked into the record books but has also become a global inspiration for anyone who believes that age is no barrier to achieving great things.
