Dubai to Build World’s First 'Gold Street' in New Multi-Billion Dollar Gold District
Dubai has unveiled an ambitious plan to construct the world’s first ‘Gold Street,’ a landmark project featuring real gold elements that will anchor the newly launched Dubai Gold District. Announced by Ithra Dubai, this initiative solidifies the emirate's vision to blend its rich gold-trading heritage with futuristic tourism and retail, creating a global epicenter branded as the new “Home of Gold.”
A Global Hub for the $53.4 Billion Gold Trade
The Dubai Gold District is a strategic move to bolster the UAE’s dominance in the global precious metals market. Between 2024–25, the UAE exported approximately $53.41 billion worth of gold, securing its position as the world’s second-largest physical gold trading hub. Key trade partners include Switzerland, the UK, India, Hong Kong, and Türkiye.
The district is designed as a comprehensive commercial ecosystem, integrating bullion and wholesale trading, investment services, luxury retail, and lifestyle offerings. This consolidation aims to streamline the gold economy, attracting international traders, investors, and connoisseurs to a single, state-of-the-art destination.
Luxury Retail and an Eclectic Visitor Experience
The district will host over 1,000 retailers, spanning fine jewellery, perfumes, cosmetics, and lifestyle brands. Major established names like Jawhara Jewellery, Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Al Romaizan, and Tanishq already operate within the zone. In a significant expansion, Joyalukkas has announced a 24,000-square-foot flagship store, set to be its largest in the Middle East.
The district's global appeal is undeniable; in 2025 alone, it attracted shoppers from over 147 nationalities, underscoring Dubai’s role as a truly international luxury marketplace.
Tourism Infrastructure and Accessibility
Supporting this retail vision is robust tourism infrastructure. Six hotels with more than 1,000 guest rooms provide ample accommodation for international visitors and business partners. Enhanced accessibility, including the extension of the Big Bus sightseeing route into the district in 2025, ensures seamless connectivity within Dubai’s tourism circuit.
The Gold Street itself is conceived as both a visual marvel and an experiential destination, designed to draw visitors seeking unparalleled luxury and innovative urban design.

Cultural Heritage Meets Future Commerce

By unifying the entire gold value chain—from trade and investment to retail and tourism—Dubai aims to amplify its status as a global epicenter for precious metals and luxury. As further details of the Gold Street are revealed, the world will watch how this gilded vision reshapes the future of urban development, luxury retail, and global trade.
