In a festive announcement, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has declared a delightful perk for motorists during the upcoming extended weekend.
Free Parking on New Year’s Day
On Monday, January 1, 2024, the RTA will offer complimentary public parking to residents, coinciding with the celebration of the new year. Moreover, Sundays in Dubai will also witness a waiver of paid parking.
Exceptions to Note: Extended Weekend

A Three-Day Weekend Celebration
Residents are in for a treat as January 1, being a public holiday, aligns seamlessly with the Saturday-Sunday weekend, resulting in a three-day break to kick off the new year.
Holiday Closures
On January 1, technical testing and customer service centers will remain closed to the public.
Extended Metro and Tram Services
Dubai Metro’s Red and Green lines will be operational from 8 am on December 31, 2023, to 11:59 pm on January 1, 2024. Additionally, the Dubai Tram will run from 9 am on December 31, 2023, to 1 am on January 2, 2024.
