The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) in the UAE made a significant announcement on Friday, revealing the cancellation of licenses for two domestic worker agencies. This action comes in response to various violations, with a specific emphasis on the agencies’ “failure to fulfill obligations towards their employees.” The agencies identified in this move are the Emirates International Center for Domestic Workers Services and Al Shamsi Office for Domestic Workers Services.

Directive to Address Employee Issues

Mohre has issued a directive to the owners of these agencies, instructing them to promptly address any outstanding issues with their employees and fulfill their commitments towards them. Additionally, the agencies are mandated to settle any fines owed up to the date of their license cancellation.

Local Authorities Informed to Take Action: Domestic Worker Agencies

The ministry has taken proactive steps by informing local authorities, ensuring that necessary actions are taken in response to the violations committed by these domestic worker agencies.

Strict Enforcement of Regulations

Mohre has affirmed its commitment to strict enforcement of regulations, emphasizing a non-lenient approach in applying legal procedures against any domestic worker recruitment agency found to have committed violations.

Public Advisory: Engage with Licensed Offices

In an advisory to residents, the ministry strongly encourages engaging exclusively with approved and licensed offices when seeking to hire domestic workers. This recommendation aims to ensure a transparent and lawful process for both employers and employees in the domestic worker recruitment sector.
