Mauritius Routes Emirates, the prominent airline based in Dubai, has announced significant changes to its flight operations to and from Mauritius, attributing the adjustments to the impact of tropical cyclone Belal.

Flight Delays: EK 703 and EK 704

The departure of Emirates’ flight EK 703 from Dubai to Mauritius, originally scheduled for January 15, is now delayed by 27 hours. The new departure time is set for January 16 at 1:30 pm UAE time, with an anticipated arrival in Mauritius at 8 pm local time. Additionally, the return flight, EK 704 from Mauritius to Dubai, initially slated for January 15, is delayed by 21 hours. It is rescheduled to depart from Mauritius on January 16 at 8 pm local time, arriving in Dubai on January 17 at 2:35 am UAE time.

Flight Cancellations: EK 701 and EK 702: Mauritius Routes

Emirates has taken the precautionary measure of canceling the EK 701 flight from Dubai to Mauritius on January 16 and the EK 702 flight from Mauritius to Dubai on the same day. Passengers with connections to the canceled EK 701 flight are advised against travel at their point of origin.

Monitoring Tropical Cyclone Belal: Mauritius Routes

Tropical cyclone Belal has impacted the French island of Reunion and is anticipated to affect Mauritius. Emirates assures that it is closely monitoring the situation and commits to providing customers with ample notice for any further changes. Affected customers are encouraged to reach out to their travel agents for alternative arrangements or contact Emirates directly for rebooking options.

A Decade of Service to Mauritius: A380 Milestone

Emirates celebrated the 10th anniversary of its daily A380 service to Mauritius on December 18, 2023. Over the past decade, the airline operated nearly 12,000 flights, serving over 5 million passengers on the A380, with Mauritius being its first A380 destination in Africa. Noteworthy feeder markets for Emirates relevant to Mauritius include destinations in France, the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Austria, Italy, and various Middle Eastern countries.

Air Mauritius Impact: Airport Closure and Flight Cancellations

In alignment with Emirates’ adjustments, Air Mauritius has also announced the closure of Roland Garros Airport in Saint-Denis de La Réunion due to the cyclone. Consequently, all flights to and from Reunion are canceled until further notice.
