Federal Highway Project The UAE is poised to assess a proposal envisioning the creation of a new federal highway that would interconnect all seven emirates. Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, shared this information during a recent address to the Federal National Council (FNC).
Comprehensive Study on Traffic Alleviation
The Ministry will conduct an in-depth study of the FNC’s proposal, focusing on the construction of a new road aimed at easing traffic congestion, particularly during peak hours. Collaboration with local government representatives will be key in evaluating the necessity of building new highways or expanding existing ones, with a consideration for redirecting traffic to alternative routes.
Innovative Solutions for Traffic Management: Federal Highway Project
To enhance traffic flow between Dubai and the Northern Emirates, the UAE plans to implement “new procedures,” including the establishment of an integrated center for continuous traffic monitoring and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze congestion causes. Anticipated to be operational in the second half of 2024, these measures are designed to improve traffic management based on thorough studies and close collaboration with local municipalities.
AI-Equipped Monitoring Center for 24/7 Traffic Assessment
As part of the initiative, a dedicated monitoring center, empowered by AI, will operate round the clock to assess traffic conditions. The AI technology will play a crucial role in identifying and understanding the root causes of congestion, contributing to the overall goal of improving traffic flow and reducing bottlenecks.
