Jackpot Munavar Fairoos, an Al Ain-based driver, serves as the admin for a Whatsapp group comprising around 40 individuals, some of whom he has never met. Their monthly ritual involves collectively purchasing Big Ticket coupons, and their commitment paid off earlier this week when they clinched the Dh20 million jackpot.

Unbelievable Win and Life-changing Impact

Expressing disbelief, Munavar, still processing the win, shared that he has not even checked the number of zeroes in Dh20 million. The diverse group, contributing modest amounts like Dh10 or 20 towards the ticket, considers this jackpot life-changing, given their limited wages. Munavar expressed joy at the prospect of positive changes for all group members.

The Winning Moment: Jackpot

The winning ticket, shared among 30 participants, was drawn on December 31. Munavar initially missed the company’s call, thinking it was a spam call due to recent experiences. Upon the second call, he learned about their victory but was unaware of the prize amount. Confirming the win through a friend who checked the website, the reality of the Dh20 million victory sank in.

Sharing the News

Munavar started notifying other ticket holders about their incredible New Year’s gift. Many initially thought it was a prank, highlighting the surreal nature of their long-awaited victory.

The Group’s Strategy: Jackpot

According to Munavar, the group purchased four tickets this month, benefiting from a special promotion that provided two free tickets for every two purchased at Dh1,000. He shared that this stroke of luck propelled them from the beginning.

Origins of the Collective Initiative

Munavar’s journey with Big Ticket began in 2019 when he, along with four others, pooled Dh100 to buy their first ticket. Over time, he found it financially challenging to contribute Dh100 monthly, leading him to involve more people who could contribute smaller amounts. The Whatsapp group, with 40 members, includes retirees living outside the UAE but still actively participating and contributing.

Financial Constraints and Disappointment

While financial constraints occasionally lead some members to skip contributions, Munavar emphasized that ten members did not contribute this month. Despite their disappointment, he acknowledged the reality of individual circumstances.

In summary, the collective effort of this diverse group has not only defied the odds but has also brought unexpected joy and financial transformation to its members.
