Security Strategy In preparation for the globally renowned New Year’s Eve fireworks, Dubai authorities have revealed a meticulous security plan covering 32 locations. The Events Security Committee has methodically divided the city into four sectors – North, Central, West, and Maritime – aiming for effective management of the celebrations.
Iconic Fireworks Display
The committee, comprised of 55 government and private entities, disclosed that the fireworks spectacle will unfold at 32 locations, including Burj Khalifa, The Beach, Bluewaters (JBR), Palm Jumeirah, and Hatta. These locations will witness coordinated efforts to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for the public.
Enhanced Viewing Areas: Security Strategy
To alleviate congestion and enhance the viewer experience, designated viewing areas equipped with six screens and food services will be strategically placed. These spaces, in collaboration with the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs, are designed to create a safe environment for spectators to relish the festivities.
Unified Security Approach
Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, the assistant commandant for operations affairs at Dubai Police and chairman of the Events Security Committee, highlighted the collaborative efforts of all 55 entities. He emphasized the need for public cooperation, adherence to traffic instructions, and prompt communication with Dubai Police for emergencies.
Logistical Preparations: Security Strategy
To facilitate the smooth flow of events, Dubai Police announced road closures around Downtown from 4 pm onwards, with Sheikh Zayed Road closing from 9 pm. The Roads and Transport Authority revealed extended Dubai Metro operations and the deployment of 230 buses to facilitate swift travel.
Comprehensive Personnel Deployment
A total of 11,972 personnel, including 5,574 police officers, and 1,525 patrols, civil defence, and ambulance vehicles, will be deployed across Dubai and Hatta to oversee security and crowd management during the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Municipality’s Role in Aesthetics and Cleanliness
Dubai Municipality will contribute 2,700 executive and field teams to maintain cleanliness and aesthetic appeal at celebration sites. Supervisors, monitors, sanitation workers, and volunteers will collaborate to ensure waste removal, cleanliness, and effective crowd management.
Specialized Deployment for Safety: Security Strategy
Dubai Civil Defence plans to deploy over 947 firefighters across celebration sites, while health and safety teams, food safety inspectors, and beach security teams will play crucial roles in ensuring the overall safety and enjoyment of the public during the festivities.
