Bedouin-inspired Excellence: Nidal Al Ashhab’s Second Place
Palestinian student Nidal Al Ashhab clinched the second place with a design inspired by traditional Bedouin tents, incorporating elements from the surrounding sand dunes. This unique approach pays homage to the oldest inhabitants of the Arabian desert known for their hospitality and resourcefulness.

In a recent ceremony, the IACAD honored the three winners, highlighting their innovative contributions to mosque design. Dubai Holding’s cash prizes of Dh20,000, Dh15,000, and Dh10,000 were awarded to the first, second, and third-place winners, respectively.
Future Prospects with Dubai Holding: Design Contest
Dubai Holding expressed interest in potentially implementing the other two winning designs in upcoming projects. Nirmeen Abu Lughad, Chief Engineer at the IACAD, shared insights into the workshop held for second-year engineering students at the American University in Dubai (AUD), emphasizing the importance of adhering to Dubai’s mosque standards. The shortlisting process involved a jury comprising members from IACAD, Dubai Holding, and AUD.
